5 Super Inspiring YouTubers That Help Me Get Creative
As someone who considers themself a creative, I sometimes get into a slump. I think all creatives feel a form of depression from time to time, where they question themselves and why they create. Sometimes I even feel imposter syndrome, because I feel like a fraud for wanting to be a writer or a blogger.
The truth is, I don’t just do these creative things to make money. I do these things because they make me feel good and accomplished. When I write my stories, I feel a sense of happiness in my life that I struggle to find elsewhere.
But when I get in a creative slump, I begin to also feel depressed. This is because my creativity is linked to my happiness.
So, how do I get my creativity back in gear? The best way to achieve this is by being inspired by something, whether a book, game, movie or manga. But also, I like to binge-watch some of my favourite inspiring YouTubers who invigorate my creative muscle.
Below is a list of the most inspiring YouTubers that I like to watch.
DrawingWiffWaffles – For effortless art and sketching
DrawingWiffWaffles is a channel run by Rin, who’s talent in art always amazes me. She’s able to sketch incredible art and make it look effortless. I get lost watching her construct a detailed human body from scratch, starting with just a few basic shapes. Her videos makes the viewer feel as though they’re capable of creating the same level of work just by practicing daily in their own sketchbook. Rin has inspired me to attempt to doodle something every single day, even if I don’t end up with a masterpiece like she does.
Katherine Karas – For artistic aesthetics and amazing journal spreads
Katherine Karas is an art student from Belize, currently living in New York. She’s technically a BookTuber (someone who vlogs about the books they read), but as an art student, Katherine has some aesthetically appealing videos in her catalogue. These include: Journal with me videos, creative short films, short aesthetic videos, and many life vlogs that feature my favourite city (New York) as a backdrop.
At first, it was Katherine’s journal videos that sucked me in, as I also have a journal of my own. Her style of journaling has influenced me to become more artistic in my own journaling, which in turn allows my creative juices to flow more organically on a daily basis.
Marsh Makes Comics – Because he makes creating comics look easy, even though my drawing is atrocious
Ever thought about making your own comics? It’s a thought I’ve had before, but my drawing skills are definitely not up to scratch. But that’s what’s so great about Marsh Makes Comics. Marshall Lee’s is a comic creator, and his channel is devoted to helping aspiring comic creators to start seriously developing the skills needed to hone this craft. No matter what level you’re at, Marshall’s channel will inspire you, while also revealing interesting behind the scenes details about the comicbook industry.
I have no plans on creating a comic in the near future, but it’s still inspiring to watch Marshall create his mini-comics on screen.
Ana Mascara – Because these productivity tips help to kick my ass in gear
Ana Mascara runs a productivity based channel, which is ideal for anyone who is a student. Although much of the videos are directed at fellow students, the information that Ana shares on her channel can be utilized by pretty much anyone at any stage of their lives. If you’re a creative of any kind, then Ana’s channel will have some valuable tips for you about timekeeping, budgeting and developing habits.

What’s great about Aileen’s channel is that she uses her own life and experiences as an example of everything she talks about. She even offers many templates and useful resources to help you create the life you want to live.
